Meet the Hillcrest Team

The Hillcrest Team combines years of experience with a passion for teaching and mentorship. Together, Julie and Katelyn combine years of competitive experience with a commitment to mentoring riders of all ages.

Julie Cleveland Beam

Julie Cleveland Beam began her journey in the equestrian world at the age of eight, competing successfully on the A-circuit as a pony rider before advancing to Junior Hunters and Equitation. Her early achievements inspired her to pursue a professional career highlighted by competing at prestigious venues such as Harrisburg, Washington, and The National Horse Show. Over the years, she has developed and shown horses at the highest levels, including in Hunter Derby Finals, Green Hunter Finals, and Grand Prixs.

As a trainer and coach, Julie has guided her students to the highest levels of the sport, including Pony Finals, Young Riders, Devon and Indoors. Coaching them through their successes are some of her proudest accomplishments as a trainer. For Julie, teaching goes beyond technical skills—it’s about fostering confidence, discipline, and a love for the sport that lasts a lifetime.

Julie’s training philosophy focuses on tailoring programs to the unique needs of each horse and rider, emphasizing open communication and thoughtful development. Her experiences both in and out of the ring have shaped Hillcrest Farm into a supportive environment where riders are encouraged to embrace challenges, pursue their goals, and develop strong partnerships with their horses.
